Celebrating 10 Years of Tarnanthi

Tarnanthi celebrates its tenth anniversary when the 2025 Tarnanthi Festival opens in October. Since it began in 2015, Tarnanthi has established itself as a nation-leader in showcasing the nuanced complexity and radical ingenuity of up-to-the-minute contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art.

At AGSA, a major new exhibition, Too Deadly: Ten Years of Tarnanthi, is the focal point of Tarnanthi 2025. Featuring more than 200 remarkable works from previous Tarnanthi Festivals, this exhibition promises to animate fresh insights and unique dialogues between works and across the Gallery.

The Festival stretches statewide with dozens of group and solo exhibitions at partner venues across Adelaide and around South Australia. These showcase the latest works in diverse mediums by hundreds of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists working nationwide.

Tarnanthi 2025 begins with a free open-air evening launch, with a Kaurna Welcome to Country, a keynote address and First Nations music, on the AGSA Forecourt on North Terrace.

Over the opening weekend, the ever-popular Tarnanthi Art Fair will return and is currently in negotiation over a new city-based venue.

Tarnanthi 2025 also includes an extensive program of artist and curator talks, tours, performances, film screenings, creative activities and workshops, as well as dedicated events for students and educators.
