Lakun Mara – Threads of Life

South Australian artist Sonya Rankine forms her Lakun Mara baskets using the stitches and natural materials used by her ancestors. She weaves with spiny flat-sedge (Cyperus gymnocaulos), ponytail palm (Beaucarnea recurvata) and palm inflorescence and also incorporates hagstones and emu feathers, conjuring a creative expression of remembrance, revival and renewal.
