Gwenneth Blitner

Ngukurr

Gwenneth Blitner creates vibrant joyful visions of Marra Country, in the south-eastern corner of Arnhem Land. She paints the lush landscapes around her home at Ngukurr, on the Roper River, and her memories of the places she has visited with family. Blitner’s canvases are a tropical deluge of colours, flooded with the rich greens, golds and pinks of plants in bloom around billabongs brimming from the rain that sweeps in from her family’s traditional country at Limmen Bight. She says, ‘I want to show everyone how special this place is, how our people use the land to stay strong and healthy’.
