SALA: Impressive and Vibrant Fantasy Buffet
An absurdist film that reinterprets AGSA's collection through food, nutrition & popular culture.
Earlier this year, contemporary South Australian artists Kurt Bosecke, of Tutti Arts, and Emmaline Zanelli led a suite of guided tours through the Art Gallery of South Australia. The artists playfully reinterpreted the collection, using food and nutrition as their lens.
For SALA 2022, Bosecke and Zanelli present Impressive and Vibrant Fantasy Buffet: 5 essential rules to help achieve an Auguste Rodin torso in under two months - a cinematic interpretation of their tours. The short film takes a humorous look at the artists' time spent in the collection. It reframes the works of art on display through popular culture references and the everyday language of food, offering visitors an alternative sense of 'taste'.
Produced in conjunction with South Australian filmmaker, Eloise Holoubek, and in partnership with AGSA. An outcome of the Tutti Arts pilot project, Reaching Out. Supported by the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the 2022 Adelaide Fringe Artist Fund.
