Picasso: The Vollard Suite

The Vollard Suite is Pablo Picasso's most celebrated series of etchings. Comprised of 100 works and produced between 1930 and 1937, the suite represents a critical point in Picasso's career and contains many of the abiding themes in his work, including his self-representation as the minotaur.

The Vollard Suite takes its name from Ambroise Vollard, the foremost French art dealer and publisher, who gave Picasso his first Paris exhibition in 1901. In exchange for some pictures, Picasso produced for Vollard this group of 100 etchings.

The film Blood of a Poet (1930) by Picasso's friend and collaborator, Jean Cocteau, will be screened alongside the exhibition.
