The Melrose Wing of International Art traverses the rich history of western art from Ancient Greece and Rome to the present day. Embracing a cross-cultural and transhistorical approach to AGSA’s significant collection of international art, each gallery within the wing interrogates a fundamental theme relating to art and humanity.
Including painting, sculpture, decorative art and design; historic and contemporary works of art co-exist to trace underlying ideas that have preoccupied artists for thousands of years. Recontextualising AGSA’s collection offers the opportunity to create new connections and highlight the multiplicity of narratives across art history.
