Petals, perfume and plenty of colour: it’s a floral frenzy at the Gallery. Come and celebrate Spring and the 2019 OzAsia Festival. Art is blossoming and all sorts of unexpected buds are in bloom.

Draft daisies and daffodils, and plant poppies with your pencil on a botanical sketch tour of the Collection with local artist Gilbert Dashorst.

Start Sounds with DJ Ruby Chew
Is that a giant jiving geranium behind the decks? Or is it a rockin’ rose? No - it’s DJ Ruby Chew! With a love of colour and vintage glamour, and a wide array of tunes from funk to pop, jazz to disco and beyond, Ruby’s known for bringing the fun and getting big and small bodies shakin’!

Dancing in the Gallery with Jessie McKinlay
Let your body be inspired by the busy, intersecting lines of Chiharu Shiota’s string installation Absence Embodied in a site-specific creative movement workshop with local dancer and choreographer Jessie McKinlay.

Enjoy the lilting sounds of the Guzheng (Chinese harp), performed by emerging musicians from the School of Chinese Music & Arts Junior Orchestra.

San Ureshi - an Oriental Trio
Music connects across cultures as masterful Chinese musicians present a selection of music in response to the exhibition 'No god but God: The art of Islam'. Zhao Liang, Satomi Ohnishi and David Dai are a Guzheng, Erhu and percussion trio from the School of Chinese Music & Arts.

Chinese painting demonstration
Marvel at the elegant and assured brushwork of Wei Zhuo, local artist and instructor from the School of Chinese Music & Arts, creating beautiful blossoms with the art of Chinese painting.
