Reimagining the Renaissance Drawing Workshops

During the Renaissance, drawing and painting was taught by art masters through an apprenticeship. Become an apprentice and join artist Rob Gutteridge to develop drawing techniques in a series of 4 workshops with lessons inspired by 2D works through to life drawing.

Week 1 - The Apprentice

Learn how to best wield your drawing materials and experiment with new techniques focusing on the use of light and shadow to create depth and realism within your work.

Week 2 - The Copyist

Look at chosen 2D works on display to inspire your work, practicing techniques taught in week 1.

Week 3 - The Reference Artist

Using sculptures in the exhibition as your reference, become a master of anatomy and perspective.

Week 4 - The Life Drawing Artist

To end your apprenticeship, draw from a life model. Providing you with multiple poses, apply the techniques you've learned over your apprenticeship to show your mastery of drawing.
