Join two of AGSA’s expert photographers, Stewart Adams, Photographer, and Josh Vanner, Collection Digitisation Manager, for a rare, hands-on opportunity to go behind the lens and into one of the AGSA's most vital yet often unseen departments.

Photography plays a fundamental role in the preservation, documentation, and interpretation of AGSA’s collection. In this exclusive member event, you’ll gain insight into the inner workings of the Gallery’s Image Services team—responsible for capturing the artworks that define AGSA’s exhibitions, archives, and publications.

Stewart Adams will demonstrate how works on paper are professionally documented, revealing the precision, care, and technical expertise involved in recording delicate works. Josh Vanner will guide you through essential camera techniques used in art photography and share key considerations around copyright and image use—crucial knowledge for artists and creatives alike.

As part of this immersive experience, each participant will:

  • Have their portrait professionally taken by Josh and receive a digital copy
  • Take home a high-quality print of an artwork from AGSA’s public domain collection
  • Enjoy a delicious lunch after the tour concludes, included in the ticket price

Whether you're an artist, student, or art lover curious about the intersection of technology and conservation, this is a unique opportunity to access the Gallery in a way few ever do.

Approximate session time is two hours, with additional time allocated for lunch.
