Join us for a unique series of workshops led by artist Claire Wildish from The Menopause Project, where themes of menopause, motherhood, and “manic making” are explored through creative expression and community connection. Participants will craft meaningful pieces that embody personal stories and shared experiences, culminating in a vibrant wearable art soirée at First Fridays on 7 March .

Milliner My Menopause Hat-Making Workshop

In this all-day workshop, Claire Wildish leads participants through the whimsical and expressive process of crafting a “brain fog” hat—a piece that captures the humour, frustrations, and complexities of menopause. Participants will work with felt to create a bold, wearable statement, decorating their hats with symbols of the things that menopause makes challenging: the forgotten names, the elusive memories, and the shifting emotions that can feel like an invisible fog. Claire’s vision for this workshop is to celebrate these experiences with humour and pride, encouraging participants to embrace and reframe the challenges of menopause through creativity. The hats created in this session will be featured at the final soirée, where each participant can proudly display their unique piece as a symbol of their journey.

All materials needed for the workshop are included in the price and will be provided on the day.

Through these workshops, Claire Wildish offers a creative platform for participants to explore and express their stories within a supportive community. Whether through bold T-shirts, a shared community cape, or a “brain fog” hat, each piece represents a unique narrative. Join us in crafting art that speaks to real experiences and celebrating the power of collective creativity at First Fridays.
