Inside the British Museum’s collection of prints and drawings
18 & 19 Sep 2020
$25 members, $25 guests
Join Alice Clanachan, Assistant Curator of Prints, Drawings and Photographs, for this special evening presentation. In 2019 Alice was awarded the Harold Wright and Sarah and Williams Holmes Scholarships, enabling her to study in the British Museum’s Department of Prints and Drawings for up to twelve months. With over two million works on paper, including significant holdings by Albrecht Dürer, William Blake, Rembrandt and Raphael, the British Museum’s collection of western graphic arts is world-renowned.
The prestigious Wright and Holmes scholarships are awarded annually to a print scholar or curator from Australia or New Zealand and were established in the 1960s by the London-based print dealer Harold Wright and his widow Isobel Wright. 2019 was the 50th anniversary year of the scholarships, and during her time at the British Museum Alice co-curated a display which celebrated the Wrights and their contribution to Antipodean print scholarship.
Hear Alice speak about British Museum’s print study room, highlights from the British Museum’s collection of prints and drawings, and share her experience curating the special anniversary display.
Members and Guests $25, includes a complimentary drink and nibbles on arrival for evening presentation and afternoon tea refreshments for the afternoon presentation.
