KICK-START YOUR WEEKEND WITH AFTER-HOURS ART AND ENTERTAINMENT

During his voyage to Australia, Czech-Australian artist Dušan Marek created his own surrealist group at sea. You are invited to join the club!

Explore a cacophony of colour, costuming and surreal self-portraiture this First Friday. Take a guided tour to learn more about Dušan and Voitre Marek: Surrealists at sea or join curator Elle Freak with Voitre Marek’s children, Olga Sankey and Ivan Marek, for a discussion about the making of this major survey exhibition and the legacy of Dušan and Voitre Marek.

Plus, jump on the bandwagon with Adelaide’s own Bait Fridge Band, a multi-disciplinary collective who create works and performances which combine the practices of music, art, dance and theatre.

Take a tour of the exhibition Dušan and Voitre Marek: Surrealists at sea with a Gallery Guide.

Open workshop

Join members of Adelaide’s most riotous artist collective, The Bait Fridge and make a mask, headdress or hat to create your own surrealist portrait in our pop-up photo booth.

Musical Performance

Multi-disciplinary collective, The Bait Fridge create performances which combine the practices of music, art, dance and theatre. Enjoy the entertainment, which often includes elaborate costume construction, interactive art installations, experimental music and audience workshops to create exciting performances.

Curator conversation

Join Elle Freak, curator of Dušan and Voitre Marek: Surrealists at sea, and Voitre Marek’s children, Olga Sankey and Ivan Marek, for a discussion about the making of this major survey exhibition and the legacy of Dušan and Voitre Marek.

Guru Dudu Silent Disco Tours

Encounter surreal sounds on an immersive silent disco tour in the exhibition Dušan and Voitre Marek: Surrealists at sea with Disco Diddi and Jo Jo Boogie.
