Drawing inspiration from Dušan and Voitre Marek: Surrealists at sea, sink into your subconscious this First Friday and take part in Dictation of thought – Writing for the surreal, a poetry workshop presented by Adelaide poet and artist, Mark Niehus. Take a guided tour to learn more about the exhibition and then sit back and soothe your mind with the sounds and songs of experimental jazz saxophonist, Adam Page.

Join Elle Freak, curator of Dušan and Voitre Marek: Surrealists at sea, and Voitre Marek’s children, Olga Sankey and Ivan Marek, for a discussion about the making of this major survey exhibition and the legacy of the Marek brothers.

Workshop - Dictation of thought – Writing for the surreal
Take part in an automatic poetry writing workshop with Adelaide poet and artist Mark Niehus.
Learn to find clarity in the aesthetics of the absurd through the practice of automatic writing and other surrealist techniques, including automatic drawing and surrealist games. Put your conscious mind aside for a night and set course for the source of the imagination where dreams and desires reside.
