Frida Las Vegas
Frida Las Vegas aka Stavroula Adameitis is an Australian artist and designer known for her bold and vibrant textiles, neon artworks and installations. Remixing nostalgia with a graphic sensibility gleaned from her memories, Stavroula's playful and kitsch-inspired creations celebrate icons of popular culture with an Australiana twist.
- How and why individuals and groups, including religious groups, participate in and contribute to civic life (ACHCK079)
- Investigating why a particular group advocates for change (for example, in relation to gender equity)
In the talk below Frida Las Vegas talks about her work appealing to a wide demographic as possible. 'SA Great' was designed by Frida while she was living in Sydney and came about from feeling homesick and wanting to honour her South Australian roots. This print was released just before the 2020 bushfires and as such Frida donated the profits from the sale of the garment to the CFS 2020 bushfire appeal.
When we consider the Civics and Citizenship concept wheel, what concepts do you think link to Frida's work? (ACHCK079).
