Friday 24 Apr 2020
$50
Led by Aboriginal artists, this workshop will provide all educators with insight into the way relationships between people, culture and country for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples can be conveyed through works of art.
The Education Team will also introduce teachers to strategies for responding to works of art, as well as highlighting some useful activities in our new publication, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art in the Classroom.
This workshop will feature April Phillips, Wiradjuri-Scottish illustrator, visual arts educator, and researcher based on the south coast of NSW – Yuin country in a virtual classroom. April experiments with new modes of visual storytelling and character design to deliver key messages in conjunction with school-based education systems.
Pre learning material will be emailed to all participants prior to the event on Friday 24 May as well as details of how to join the virtual classroom.
