At AGSA, we believe that it is everyone's responsibility to educate our young people about the significance of First Nation people. Delivered by AGSA's Education Manager, Kylie Neagle, this session will guide you through ways to encourage students to genuinely respond to First Nations artists’ works, instead of merely copying a style or technique used by artists. Central to this process is the easy-to follow flowchart ‘A guide to using works of art as a starting point’.

In this one hour pre-recorded presentation you will discover the strategies and suggestions that are available in our publication Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art in the Classroom volume 2. You will discover ways that students respond to artists' work in a culturally appropriate and meaningful way, a way that acknowledges the artist's ideas and themes whilst giving children an opportunity to create their own work of art that is personal to them and their world.

Recommended for any educator, not just visual art teachers, particularly those new to AGSA Education programs.
