Artful Citizenship: Blending Civics & Creativity in the Classroom
Fri 29 Aug 2025
$40 DfE teachers, HAA or AGSA member, pre-service teachers, $60 non DfE teachers, non-HAA or AGSA Member.
With the State Government’s recent investment in Civics and Citizenship education, AGSA and Parliament House have again teamed up to deliver a full day workshop focused on this area of the Australian Curriculum.
Join us for a day of thought-provoking professional learning in historic North Terrace locations as we explore how to teach Civics & Citizenship through concepts and through visual arts.
Start the day by learning about the Civics & Citizenship concept wheel with Malcolm McInerney, HASS specialist, HASS Association Australia President, and Lecturer at UniSA. Then put the concept wheel into action with practical demonstrations and activities with Natalie Badcock, Manager of Education programs at the Parliament of South Australia.
Finally, head to the Art Gallery of South Australia where Education Manager, Kylie Neagle, explores civics concepts within the Gallery's permanent collection, and how to blend visual arts with civics and citizenship in the classroom.
Lunch and morning tea provided.
Please note:
- This teacher professional development session has been generously subsidised by Parliament House in conjunction with the Department for Education.
