This watercolour was made three years after the oil painting of the same subject on display in this exhibition.  In this watercolour Heysen has depicted the mountain from a closer viewpoint than in the oil painting.  This gives the mountain greater monumentally as it looms over the restless rhythms of the foreground landscape.
