WALL LABEL: Andy Warhol and Photography: A Social Media, 2023
In the amusing ‘Introduction’ to his book Andy Warhol’s Exposures, Warhol admits to having ‘social disease’ – meaning he loved going out every night and couldn’t stand staying at home.
On the page opposite the ‘Introduction’ is a photograph of a toilet with his caption: ‘I will go to the opening of anything, including a toilet seat’. Toilets were recurring subjects in Warhol’s photographic oeuvre.
