Presented by the James and Diana Ramsey Foundation, the Studio is transformed for Tarnanthi. Visitors will find themselves immersed in woven sculptures made by artists from Erub Arts on Erub (Darnley Island) in the Torres Strait Islands using ghost nets – abandoned fishing nets.

Magnificent sea sculptures fashioned from ghost nets, ocean debris and recycled plastics representing fish, turtles, sharks and jellyfish have been masterfully crafted by these dedicated artists.

Ghost Nets of the Ocean shares the artists’ concern for the loss of marine life and environmental damage caused by rogue nets. Importantly this project helps to raise awareness of the devastation that ghost nets cause.

The Studio is the Art Gallery of South Australia’s free activity space, presented with the support of the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation.
