Abdul Abdullah (b. 1986, Perth) is a seventh generation Australian-Muslim artist whose work negotiates these dual identities. Traversing mediums such as painting, photography and recently, installation, Abdullah’s practice utilises exaggeration and subversion to critique representations of marginalised identities in the post 9/11 Western world. Abdullah considers the experience of the outsider in society and explores the stratagems that are used to dehumanise individuals who do not conform to the dominant culture.
